Laal Singh Chaddha has left fans disappointed after it had a slow start on August 11. Despite it being a holiday, the film, according to a report, could garner only Rs 11.50 crore. Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s Laal Singh Chaddha is the remake of Tom Hanks-starrer Forrest Gump.
Laal Singh Chaddha recorded a 15-20% occupancy, which is a worrying figure for an Aamir Khan film. The opening day figures, according to a report by Box Office India, 11.50 crore. Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan also released alongside Laal Singh Chaddha. According to early trade reports, Raksha Bandhan also earned Rs 8 crore.
Kareena Kapoor took to her official Instagram handle to share an unseen photo with Aamir on the release date of Laal Singh Chaddha.. While sharing the picture on IG, Kareena captioned it, “Aamir, Advait, Me and Jeh Baba Thank you for the memories Rupa and Lal Forever Laal Singh Chaddha today @aamirkhanproductions @advaitchandan (sic).” For those unaware, Kareena was expecting her second child [Jeh] while she was shooting for Laal Singh Chaddha.
Laal Singh Chaddha faced a lot of controversy even before its release. There was a Twitter trend on boycotting the film, over statements made by Aamir and Kareena in the past. Aamir has even apologised to the audience and requested them to watch the film in the theatres.
